I hope that volcano doesn't erupt again! An entire Roman city preserved under ash and mud. Later, back in Naples we enjoyed some local pizza (it was invented here) with Rob, Ryan, Brian and Alana.

I hope that volcano doesn't erupt again! An entire Roman city preserved under ash and mud. Later, back in Naples we enjoyed some local pizza (it was invented here) with Rob, Ryan, Brian and Alana.
Bryan in the Great Pyramid (Pyramid of Cheops)
Two friends we met on our cruise took these photos of Bryan inside one of the Great Pyramids of Giza. Thanks Rob and Ryan! It was amazing to be so far inside such an ancient structure. We climbed up and up and up some more. The air became increasingly stale and increasingly still the further we got inside. Bryan described the burial chamber room in the Pyramid as being "boiling."
Athens
We visited the Acropolis in Athens. Mountaineers Players will be interested to note that we visited the Dioynsus Theatre.

May 25th - Istanbul, Turkey
Today in Istanbul we visited the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Sultan's Palace (Topkapi).
